Step 2a: Review the details and requirements of each endorsement category

STEPS REQUIRED FOR ALL CATEGORY APPLICANTS (TMHP, MHS, RPF I & II, RPM)

Step 2b: Develop a brief personal statement

  • Describe your background and any other important information about you related to the area of infant-family or early childhood family mental health and your interest in seeking endorsement in no more than 500 words.

Step 2c: Update your resume or curriculum vitae.

  • This sample (PDF) illustrates information that must be included.

Step 2d: Develop a brief narrative of your learning experiences

  • Organize your experiences according to the eight knowledge domains.
  • View a narrative example (PDF).
  • A training certificate cannot replace the narrative document.

Step 2e: Request at least one letter of recommendation

Request at least one letter of recommendation from current and past supervisors for MHS or TMHP endorsement. The letter(s) should

  • Be from someone who has provided reflective facilitation to you around your direct service/clinical work with children birth to five and their families/caregivers as documented on your resume.
  • Attest to your possession of the competencies relevant to the clinical work or direct services around which you provided reflective facilitation.
  • Specify the reflective facilitator’s role and confirm that the reflective facilitation provided was in general aligned with the California Training Guidelines related to reflective practice facilitation as outlined on this website.

Please note that Reflective Practice Facilitation support hours provided by a supervisor using RPF competencies will be accepted for experience prior to January 1, 2017.  Hours after that date need to be provided by a Reflective Practice Facilitator or Reflective Supervisor endorsed by the California Center or another national endorsement system.

ADDITIONAL STEPS REQUIRED FOR RPF I, II AND RPM APPLICANTS (In addition to 2b to 2e above)

Step 2f: Letters of recommendation about the reflective practice facilitation you have provided. This is in ADDITION to the letter in 2e.

This letter should be:

  • From someone that has provided reflective practice facilitation related to your reflective facilitation with others.
  • Specify the reflective facilitator’s role and confirm that the reflective facilitation provided was in general aligned with the California Training Guidelines related to reflective practice facilitation as outlined on the website.

Please note that after January 1, 2017, candidates for endorsement must have received reflective facilitation provided by endorsed Reflective Practice Facilitators. Review the Tips for Letters of Recommendations and Sample Letter for Reflective (PDF) Practice Facilitator I and II.

Step 2g: Names and contact information for 3 people who have received RPF from the applicant

  • Applicants for both Reflective Practice Facilitators I and II need to provide the names and contact information for three people who have received reflective practice facilitation from the applicant.

ADDITIONAL STEPS REQUIRED FOR RPM APPLICANTS (In addition to 2b to 2g above)

Step 2h: An ADDITIONAL letter documenting the RPF you have received related to the work you have done to mentor others become RPF’s. This is in ADDITION to the letters required for 2e and 2f.

This letter should be:

  • From someone who has provided reflective practice facilitation related to your work to prepare others to provide reflective practice facilitation to direct service providers.
  • Specify the reflective practice facilitator’s role and confirm that the reflective practice facilitation provided was in general aligned with the California Training Guidelines related to reflective practice facilitation as outlined on the website.
